Chemical sponges lift soot particulate instead of smearing it into the surface.
Porous surfaces like drywall get different treatment than tile, glass, or metal.
Soot turns corrosive on metal within about 48 hours — we move quickly.
HEPA vacuums capture fine particulate instead of recirculating it into the air.
The primary tool for lifting soot from porous surfaces like drywall and painted trim without smearing.
This step happens before any wet cleaning, since vacuuming first prevents particulate from smearing when surfaces get wet.
Tile, glass, and metal get a different chemical treatment than porous drywall and wood.
Acidic soot residue on hardware, faucets, and electronics gets neutralized before pitting sets in.
Ceilings get cleaned before walls, since falling particulate would otherwise recontaminate freshly cleaned wall surfaces.
We clean vents and returns as part of the same visit, not as a separate service call.
A technician answers and schedules the fastest available crew.
Mobile units are equipped for both porous and non-porous surfaces.
Surfaces assessed by type before a written price is quoted.
Nothing closes out until you've inspected the finished work.
"We tried wiping the soot ourselves and just smeared it worse. Meridian Smoke Damage's sponge technique actually lifted it without streaking." — Homeowner, Clinton
"Fast response meant the metal fixtures got treated before any real corrosion set in." — Homeowner, Clinton, WI
"I didn't expect the vacuum step to matter that much, but the carpets ended up much cleaner than our own attempt." — Homeowner, Clinton
Regular cloths tend to spread soot rather than remove it.
We prioritize metal surfaces early specifically because of that corrosion window.
Yes, porous surfaces like drywall and non-porous surfaces like tile get different treatments.
Cleaning the particulate and neutralizing the odor are related but separate steps.
Yes, HEPA vacuum extraction handles soft surfaces before any wet cleaning begins.
Same-day response is standard given how time-sensitive soot damage is.
Our Soot Cleanup crews cover Clinton and the surrounding zip codes, with HEPA equipment staged locally for fast response.
